Celebrating the United States 250th Anniversary
2026 marks a major milestone in American history: 250 years since the founding of the United States. As a tribute, the U.S. Mint released a historic series of circulating coins featuring one-year-only designs, authorized by the Circulating Collectible Coin Redesign Act of 2020. Each denomination—from the dime through the half dollar—features new designs celebrating the nation's founding ideals, historic moments throughout our history, and an inspiration for the future. Whitman will showcase it's U.S. 250th Anniversary Collection of albums and folders at he Expo ahead of the public release on March 15, 2026.
All-New Mega Red X Debuts at the Expo
Mega Red: A Guide Book of United States Coins Deluxe Tenth Edition is back in a bold, fully expanded tenth edition—bringing collectors and dealers the most comprehensive, up-to-date U.S. coin catalog available. Building on the scholarship of R.S. Yeoman, Q. David Bowers, and Kenneth Bressett, and further strengthened by John Feigenbaum and Jeff Garrett, Mega Red X spans the full breadth of American coinage—from colonial issues and early federal series to classic gold and silver to modern mint programs, bullion, and commemoratives. As the deluxe, supersized companion to the Official Red Book®, the catalog delivers more coins, more varieties, more pricing, and deeper research than the regular edition, including market analysis, engaging essays, and an in-depth special feature on 130+ years of $5 Half Eagle gold coins (1795–1929).
A limited quantity of the 500 numbered hardcover editions will be available for signature by authors Feigenbaum and Garrett on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. ET at Whitman Brands Booth #649.
Spring 2026 Showcase Auction Highlights
Stack's Bowers Galleries, America's oldest rare coin auctioneer and dealer, will display lots from their upcoming Spring Showcase series—a major draw in the numismatic calendar, featuring multiple live auction sessions that highlight some of the most desirable material on the market. The Spring 2026 Showcase Auction includes U.S. coins spanning early American issues to modern rarities, important numismatic Americana, and specialized currency sessions showcasing colonial and obsolete notes, errors, Confederate issues, and other historic paper money. Marquee offerings include standout consignments such as the Widmer Family Collection and the Admirals Cove Collection presented during Rarities Night. The sale also reflects the evolving breadth of the hobby, with diverse categories such as physical crypocurrency that appeal to both traditional numismatists and newer market participants, reinforcing the strong demand and momentum currently driving the rare coin and currency marketplace.
