Why All Dealers Should Join the PNG

Founded in 1955, the Professional Numismatists Guild is all about its motto – Knowledge, Integrity, Responsibility. Every PNG member dealer exemplifies all three of these attributes, or they wouldn’t be part of our association. The PNG is universally respected by collectors, investors and numismatic dealers alike.

The PNG logo a seal of approval for the numismatic field. After all, it appears on the back of every NGC coin holder. • As a self regulated organization, the PNG members hold each other accountable for business dealings with not just other dealers, but also with the general public. Minor grievances or issues are reviewed by the Executive Director for resolution. More serious issues that can’t be easily resolved are brought before an Arbitration Team for review, and ultimately for resolution. All parties are bound by the binding arbitration. The benefit of binding arbitration is having knowledgeable and seasoned dealers that have an intimate understanding of the coin business to better arbitrate a fair arrangement between disputing parties. This saves both parties considerable expense and the risk of an unknowledgeable, non-coin judge or jury deciding the matter. The PNG Code of Ethics is clearly stated on the PNG website and all dealers are held accountable to those standards;
• Since most PNG dealers are willing to extend credit to other PNG dealers, this benefit is of significant importance in the industry. Holding PNG dealers accountable to financial commitments is paramount to the success of the organization;
• No other organization in numismatics holds its members to such a strict code of ethics as the PNG. This provides an umbrella of protection for dealers and the coin collecting public;
• The PNG takes a very strong position on developing and educating the next generation of coin dealers and numismatists. NextGen is supported financially, as well as by a team of dealer-mentors that educate younger dealers, and numismatists on the coin industry. Everything from grading coins, to how to start and run a successful business, to how to treat and work with both dealers and the collecting public. Ethics are a big part of bringing up the next generation of coin dealers. • The PNG dealer locator on the PNG website provides incredible leads and potential business. Collectors looking to work with a PNG dealer have searched out and driven hundreds of miles to do business with a PNG dealer … many, many times. Often passing by local dealers in their area because they want to work with a PNG dealer that has a great reputation and adheres to a strict code of ethics;
• The PNG is currently running a program that allows new members to join for half the regular membership rate … for the first 2 years. Additionally, the monthly payment option makes the annual fees easy to manage. The annual cost to maintain membership is extremely reasonable for the incredible benefits that membership provides. The PNG continues to work on developing additional benefits for membership.
